Red Mountain Theatre Company, Tony Award winning Broadway Producers and nearly 40-year-old regional theatre, is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Costume Supervisor as we move into a robust period of organizational growth, including a new venue in the coming years.
RMTC is looking for an experienced, highly-motivated person to support our mission of creating powerful theatre experiences that enrich, educate, and engage audiences – nourishing the human spirit, fostering valuable life skills, and cultivating a deeper sense of community.
The Costume Supervisor manages and executes all aspects of the costume department, to deliver the artistic vision of RMTC productions on time and on budget. They will maintain all costume stock, materials and equipment used for the construction of costumes and oversee all aspects of construction, rental, crafts and maintenance of costumes. The Costume Supervisor will collaborate with the Director, RMTC Staff, and creative team members to Design and realize all costumes required for RMTC productions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee all costume needs of RMTC’s productions with a primary focus on costume creation, and implementation, including oversight of wig and makeup design, materials and stock.
  • Maintain and safeguard the costume assets of the theatre, including materials, equipment, and inventory, while insuring proper use and maintenance of costume equipment and supplies.
  • Source costume elements, via online and in store purchases, to supplement RMTC Costume Stock as needed for a given production.
  • Identify and resolve any special costume element or need required of a production.
  • Advise Production Manager on the technical specifications, costs, labor, and technical equipment required to implement approved designs.
  • Supervise and participate in the creation of costume elements to support the artistic vision within the limitations of schedule, labor, and budget.
  • Oversee, schedule, and participate in costume fittings.
  • Assist in recruiting, training and assignment of costume staff for all productions.
  • Participate in the preparation and control of Costume department budgets.
  • Graduate of an accredited four-year college or university preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in Theatrical Costume Design and Construction.
  • Previous Costume Supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job – not limited to bending, reaching, climbing, walking up and down stairs, and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
