Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles (EAL/LA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated arts advocate to serve as Managing Director, committed to uplifting and engaging the next generation of arts sector leaders in Los Angeles County. EAL/LA is a volunteer-run organization with one part-time paid staff member.

The Managing Director role is a mixture of administration, coordination and leadership. He/She/They will be responsible for the administration and managing of EAL/LA’s programs and serves as a liaison with the Leadership Council (LC) and Advisory Board (AB).

 

Responsibilities may include:

Administration:

  • Serve as the liaison to EAL/LA’s fiscal sponsor

  • Manage budget, credit card account, and process check requests

  • Manage consultants and contracts

  • Maintain EAL/LA’s info@ealla.org email account and work with the Communications chair to make sure the website is up to date

  • Coordinate with LC, AB, and partners to secure locations for meetings, retreats and events

  • Serve as point of contact for developing relationships with partnering organizations

  • Plan and facilitate LC meetings when needed

 

Leadership Council & Advisory Board Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for grant management, reporting, and related communications

  • Maintain the LC meeting schedule and take and store notes

  • Serve as liaison to the AB and LC

  • Represent EAL/LA in meetings with peer networks (e.g., California young professional networks)

  • Participate in monthly meetings with LC Co-chairs to identify, determine and plan for gaps in membership or organizational strategy

  • Provide AB quarterly updates on events, membership and organizational strategy

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience preferred

  • Experience in project management and volunteer coordination a plus

  • Background in arts administration and familiarity with Los Angeles’ arts sector

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Flexibility to work meetings and events on evenings and weekends

  • Comfort with basic budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects using numerous communications channels such as social media, web, Google Suite, MailChimp, and comparable digital platforms

  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work successfully with people from diverse culture and backgrounds

  • Strong work ethic, empathetic disposition and perseverance

 

This position is a part-time, monthly contracted position. Hours vary but compensation is a fixed stipend of $760 (pre-tax) every two weeks, based off of $20 hourly rate. Candidates should be available 10-19 hours per week; this varies depending on event and program schedules, but is also flexible to the candidate's additional work or artmaking..
