The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is seeking knowledgeable, reliable, enthusiastic and inspirational Teaching Artists in the disciplines of visual art, dance, music and drama, for our “A Taste of the Arts”, program. We are seeking Teaching Artists to provide instruction for an in-school arts enrichment program, to be held at multiple Juvenile Court and Community School sites (JCCS) in Escondido, Vista and San Marcos.

The ideal candidate for this position:
  • Must have minimum 3-5 years of public or private school teaching for grades 6-12, or has demonstrated ability to teach large groups of high school and middle school students;
  • Must have prior experience working with students on parole or formerly incarcerated;
  • Will have experience with Trauma Informed Care and Restorative Justice;
  • Will have training and current active practice in any of the following disciplines: visual art, music, dance, drama, media arts, spoken word/poetry;
  • Is extremely organized, highly effective at classroom management, and reliable with strong attention to detail - anticipates needs, takes initiative and is proactive; and
  • Is highly skilled at lesson planning and curriculum writing;
