Status: 100%, Full-Time, Regular, Exempt

Probation: 180 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:  Cultural Arts produces theatre and performances at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s 200-seat Renberg Theatre and 50-seat Davidson/Valentini Theatre, in addition to curating visual art exhibitions in the Advocate & Gochis Galleries. An award-winning producer in the greater Los Angeles area, the Los Angles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center presents performances and exhibits that illuminate the trials, triumphs, and truths of the LGBTQ+ community through theatre, music, dance, comedy, and visual art. 

JOB SUMMARY: The Los Angeles LGBT Center seeks an experienced line-producer to serve as the Center’s inaugural Associate Producer to the Cultural Arts Department. The Associate Producer will serve as the project manager for all Los Angeles LGBT Center season events - to include theatre, dance, comedy, music, and art exhibitions at the Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center and at the organization’s multiple community centers including Mi Centro (Boyle Heights), Center South (Leimert Park), and Trans Wellness Center (Koreatown). The Associate Producer will collaborate with internal and external constituents to deliver high-quality programming that celebrates and amplifies LGTBQ+ voices and narratives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)    Serve as lead producer for performances, art exhibitions, community partnerships, and productions;

2)    Work with the artistic director to curate a season of performances and art exhibitions that celebrate and amplify LGBTQ+ and BIPOC voices/narratives;

3)    Support the artistic director in thinking strategically about program creation and successful event execution;

4)    Lead Cultural Arts Department administrative work with other Center departments; advance projects related to marketing/communications, production, box office, finance, Salesforce, Survey Monkey, and the Cultural Arts website to ensure event needs are met on time or ahead of schedule;

5)    Support the coordination of auditions, callbacks, design meetings, and creative team hires based on the unique needs of each project;

6)    Support the creation of rehearsal/tech schedules; oversee tech and crew/stage management teams;

7)    Meet with project collaborators to advance event goals; meet with local artists to explore future collaborations;

8)    Support the creation of the annual event calendar, quarterly season calendars, and project timelines to establish ambitious and achievable benchmarks;

9)    Anticipate delays in production and respond creatively to ensure projects and artists are fully supported to meet timelines;

10)    Work with artists to collect all event details including event copy, bios, and headshots; coordinate all project contracts, W9s, and invoices to ensure timely payment to artists and vendors;

11)    Communicate event details and vision to marketing/communications team; oversee creation of event assets/graphics, press releases, and programs;

12)    Support the staffing of all Cultural Arts events, including filling front of house, crew, and volunteer positions;

13)    Coordinate front of house and volunteer trainings to ensure excellent customer service and a culture of inclusion/cultural competency;

14)    Support the Center’s efforts to improve patron/artist data collection and analysis, informing future programming decisions;

15)    Oversee set up, check in, and flow of all Cultural Arts events;

16)    Other duties as assigned;

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1)    Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people;

2)    A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;

3)    Minimum 5 years of project management/line-producing for theatre and other live events, or equivalent;

4)    Experience managing large teams of artists and collaborators from diverse disciplines and backgrounds;

5)    Ability to support multiple complex projects concurrently, involving multiple individual artists and/or legacy organizations;

6)    Demonstrated commitment to being of service to community and building mutually beneficial, sustained partnerships; familiarity with a consensus organizing methodology is a plus;

7)    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills; excellent computer skills and knowledge including word, excel, microsoft teams, outlook, and other software systems;

8)    Demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practices and to cultivating an organizational culture that celebrates accountability and joy;

9)    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment;
