Classics 4 Kids is seeking a positive, collaborative and dynamic individual to join our close-knit team to support the organization’s fundraising endeavors. The Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director to oversee and manage all aspects of Classics 4 Kids fundraising. Key components include creating goals, strategies, and timetables for corporate giving, individual giving, foundations, auction giving, and Annual Gala. The Director of Development will need to be a leader and create innovative new funding opportunities and continue successful existing practices. 
  • Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fundraising/development in a non-profit setting
  • Proven successful track record in seeking, preparing, securing and monitoring grant proposals/reports
  • Proven budget management skills including budget preparation, decision-making and reporting.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and good judgement.
  • Deep appreciation and understanding of the Classics 4 Kids mission and the ability to articulate its values and vision internally and externally.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Grant research, writing and submission – 50%
Donor management – 25%
Fundraiser Planning - 15%
Development department strategy – 5%
Miscellaneous organization support – 5% 
  • Maintain and apply for grant funding to support programs and organization
  • Search and obtain funding opportunities to sustain and grow the programs
  • Provide responsive and comprehensive professionalism with donors in a timely manner
  • Manage enriching and deepening engagement experiences for donors, including but not limited to site visits, personalized thank you notes and assist with impact reports
  • Responsible for acknowledgements and donor relations
  • Attention to detail and coordination with other team members including Artistic Director and Conductor, Program Coordinator, and Executive Director
  • Plan and execute fundraising events including annual Gala
  • Support internal management of lists and spreadsheets related to potential funding sources in MS Excel and/or MS Word. Convey this information clearly and diplomatically, in person, over the phone and in writing
  • As appropriate, assist other departments to ensure the effective and efficient operations of C4K. At all times, demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; meticulous attention to detail

  • Interest and ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to lift, pull, climb, kneel, and bend.
  • Regularly required to communicate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to do light lifting (maximum 25 lbs. - e.g. box of copy paper) as needed is required.
