Pittsburgh CLO is a not-for-profit cultural organization dedicated to the preservation, creation and promotion of the American musical theater art form, the furnishing of arts education and providing outreach and meaningful community service opportunities in Western Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.

The Pittsburgh CLO, hailed as one of the nation’s premier regional theaters, is seeking a creative, sales oriented, individual to serve as the Sales and Merchandise Coordinator.  As a member of the Marketing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for generating additional earned revenue through the sale of merchandise at performances, the CLO Academy, the CLO online store and at other events and locales.  In addition, this position coordinates cross-departmental procurement of promotional items, branding, and assists with implementation of special marketing projects. If you have a strong passion for the arts, we want to hear from you! 

What you’ll do: 

  • Develop merchandise concepts and product selection in partnership with the Marketing team; analyze and evaluate product performance
  • Develop relationships with area businesses, coordinate promotions, and organize street team for poster/flyer distribution
  • Represent CLO as front of house concierge during performances; greet audience and assist with customer service issues
  • Market and coordinate streaming and/or video on demand programs; submit payment requests for performers, provide income reports and monitor expenses
  • Partner with the Development team for creation and procurement of donor stewardship items and special event products
  • Collaborate with Development to generate sponsorship and/or branding opportunities
  • Manage the creation of the Digital Season Ticket Entertainment Guide including researching, soliciting ads, writing, obtaining discount codes and overseeing design and publication
  • Create marketing concepts for merchandise giveaways and promotional materials, including group sales initiatives
  • Partner with the Education team for merchandise sales and product development at the CLO Academy and Academy performances and events
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendor for management of the CLO online store; assist with product development; maintain sales reports
  • Coordinate product purchasing and track physical inventory, utilizing an inventory management software; add products and pricing information to the point of sale system
  • Responsible for providing accurate financial reporting on revenue and expenses to the Finance Department and management, tracking taxable items, donated items, cost of goods sold, etc.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers for merchandise sales at all CLO performances; ensure merchandise booth is set-up and staffed appropriately for each performance
  • Oversee load-in of the merchandise booth to the theater and other venues, ensuring it is presented in a creative way that attracts customers and displays merchandise effectively, and that proper signage is visible
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels in the merchandise booth
  • Process point of sale transactions in an efficient and friendly manor; handle returns and exchanges; reconcile cash drawer at the end of each performance
  • Represent CLO at vendor booths for external festivals and Community Engagement projects, such as the Children’s Festival, Arts Festival, VIP Princess Party, and Reading Extravaganza
  • Prepare welcome baskets and gifts for visiting artists, alumni, and VIPs
  • Assist with Social Media postings, proofreading, and editing when requested
