The Professional Development Manager should see that the organization remains focused and strongly versed in best practices, recent trends, and important research in education in order to deliver high quality, holistic, impactful art and arts integrated programming throughout San Diego County; with a focus on equity, reflection, authenticity, inquiry, student-centered pedagogy, and the creative process. 

Building a strong learning community that includes staff, artists, teachers, schools and community organizations, providing support, research, and resources while also facilitating opportunities for collaboration and peer-to-peer teaching/sharing of best practices.  Providing a critical leadership role in the Teaching Artists Institute and other large initiatives that require customized educational solutions, thus building capacity of the organization to place high quality, committed and supported teaching artists in our schools. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in arts, education, non-profit program management, or another relevant field. 
  • This position requires an organized, self-starter, and three to five years of non-profit arts program management is highly desired. 
  • A passion for arts education is paramount! 
  • Must be able to work well with people (artists, educators, staff) and possess strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Computer literacy is essential including Word, Excel, Constant Contact, Salesforce, G Suite, Outlook, and Adobe. 

The ideal candidate for this position is able to move fluidly between both hemispheres of the brain, using strong analytical skills and attention to detail when necessary, as well as building strong relationships with all program partners that result in mutual respect and camaraderie.  A life-long learner remaining grounded in best practices and new research via classes, conferences, research, etc. that will inform all aspects of duties and responsibilities.
