Café Strategic Partnerships Bring More Jobs to You

By Victoria Plettner-Saunders

We’ve been hard at work this year using the technology available to us to connect our site with more job seekers across the country.

Two membership based organizations, Rising Arts Leaders of San Diego and the National Alliance for Musical Theatre are launching pages on their websites that connect their members with jobs in the Cafe that are of particular interest to them.

It started when I was at a National Arts Marketing Project Conference in Salt Lake City last year. Adam Grosswirth at NAMT was interested in finding a way to support his members needs for posting or finding job opportunities in the musical theatre world. They didn’t have the time or resources to do it in a meaningful way.

Enter the Art Career Cafe.

We have the resources and technology but not NAMT’s members’ eyes or job listings. This month we’re putting the finishing touches on the technology and launching it following the NAMT conferences in Manhattan in a few weeks. When it’s ready, we’ll let you know. I for one am excited to be heading to NYC next week for the conference to launch the partnership and meet the NAMT membership.

In the mean time, the Rising Arts Leaders of San Diego have a similar situation. A volunteer led organization that focuses on leadership and professional development support for emerging arts managers in San Diego, RALSD didn’t have the people power to keep up the list that has been a mainstay of their website for years. Co-Chair Kait Sewell and I created a way to integrate Café listings specific to San Diego County arts and culture organizations into their members-only pages.

If you know of an organization that wants to support job search on their website but doesn’t have the technology – we’d love to talk. This is a win-win for everyone. Employers reach more qualified applicants and job seekers have more opportunities to which they can respond.
